A manufacturing shortfall, not a swap

Amide or acid

Amidation is a separate step in synthesis and it does not always go to completion. Incomplete amidation leaves free-acid material one dalton heavier, mixed in with the intended compound.

Unlike the PT-141 and Melanotan II pair, this is not a substitution — nobody is selling you the wrong thing on purpose. It is a manufacturing shortfall, and it is only visible to a method that weighs the molecule accurately enough to see one part in thirteen hundred.

Ten residues is not trivial

Short enough to synthesise reliably, long enough that deletion sequences appear when the process is rushed. Purity carries real information at this length.

No approved form

Kisspeptin-10 has been used in clinical research but has no approved pharmaceutical product, so there is no reference material a vendor is obliged to match.
