A tripeptide and a copper ion

A tripeptide — glycine, histidine, lysine — complexed with copper(II). The peptide alone weighs 340.38 daltons. The complex is heavier by the mass of the copper it carries, and how much copper it actually carries is exactly the thing in question.

The half a peptide method cannot answer

Two questions, two instruments

Mass spectrometry confirms the GHK tripeptide and measures how much of it is present. It does not tell you how much copper is bound, and the copper is most of what the product is sold for.

Copper quantification is an elemental measurement — ICP-MS, the same technique used for heavy metals. A certificate that reports only the peptide has answered the easier half.

Blue is not proof

The characteristic blue colour comes from copper in solution. It does not establish how much copper is present, whether it is bound to the peptide, or whether the ratio is anywhere near one to one. Colour is the least informative property this compound has, and the one most often relied on.

Plain GHK is cheaper

The uncomplexed tripeptide is an inexpensive, easily synthesised molecule. Underdosing the copper while supplying genuine GHK produces a sample that passes any peptide-only analysis.

What your certificate reports

  1. Identity — confirmed from precursor-to-product-ion transitions on a triple quadrupole instrument, not inferred from retention time.
  2. Purity — measured at the quantifying transition, with the method named on the report.
  3. Net peptide content — quantified against an external calibration curve and reported as its own figure, in milligrams. Why this is a different number from purity.
  4. Peak data — the chromatographic results behind each figure, printed on the certificate rather than held back.

How much sample do you need?

Does it need to be shipped cold?

No. Lyophilised peptides travel safely at room temperature, which is how nearly all samples reach us.

Who actually performs the analysis?

An independent Ontario laboratory. Every certificate we issue names the facility that ran it — we are a testing service, not a laboratory, and we would rather say so than let you find out from the report.

What if the result comes back bad?

You get the result. We do not soften findings, and we do not charge differently depending on what the analysis shows.

Can I verify the certificate is genuine?

Yes. Every certificate carries an identifier that anyone can check against our records, including the vendor you bought from.
